We've been at this rice cereal thing for a week now. So far Anna is not impressed. Everything I read said that it would take her 3-4 days to stop tongue thrusting the food back out and figure out how to swallow it. I'm not sure that we've made much progress yet in that area. Maybe she's too young??? Or just doesn't like rice cereal??
Yesterday I decided to do what Babywise suggests--nurse her for half of a feeding, feed her cereal, and then follow up with the rest of the nursing. That way she is not so hungry that she is fussy, but not so full that she doesn't want any cereal. Makes logical sense, right?
Well, when I stopped nursing and put Anna in her bumbo chair with a bib, she became livid! She wanted to make it quite clear that she was not finished nursing. I thought maybe if I just put some cereal in her mouth she would figure out that I was still feeding her, but in a different form. After all, her mouth was wide open screaming. She just proceeded to scream with cereal sitting on her tongue. She was loud enough that Tandon came from the opposite side of the house to see what I was doing to her.
Oh sweet Annie, how I love you--unpredictable temper and all.
Maybe tomorrow we will try a different kind of food. After a full nursing period of course. :)

So sorry it has been a bit of a battle. I remember Will had a hard time with the solid food, too. He eventually got the hang of it, and so will sweet Anna!
That sounds exactly like Sam! He could have cared less about rice cereal, or any other foods, for the first few weeks I gave them to him. Then, he suddenly loved something I offered him (i can't remember what it was) and even started liking rice cereal. She'll catch on eventually!
Sounds like she is quite different from her big brother :)
Seanna hated the cereal, we went straight to stage 1 sweet potatoes and she loved them!
good luck!
Jack hated cereal, too. I tried it for a week, starting at six months (before that I tried it off and on to try to get him used to the idea). Then I gave him other foods and tried it again several times. He still hated it. When you think about it, you can't blame them---it looks pretty nasty :-). So I moved onto veggies and then fruit, and eventually mixed cereal in with yogurt or fruit so he would get the iron (and he loved it in that form).
