Fish Face

Kellen and I went to the pediatrician's office yesterday. We try to make an appearance there at least once a week, just to make sure they don't forget who we are. :) Kellen has hives. The doctor thinks it is his bodies way of dealing with a viral infection. Kinda strange since he has no other symptoms.

Anyway . . . each room at the pediatrician's office is decorated with a theme. Yesterday we got the fish room. We used our time while waiting for the doctor to practice our fish face. Here it is. :)

Dada-Ball-Dog

Kellen has always been very verbal. He babbles ALL the time. Most of that babble now includes the words Dada, ball, and dog.

He has been saying Dada with recognition for a few weeks now. He is standing next to me as I post this picture saying, "Dada Dada!"

He is also infatuated with balls and points them out everywhere.

And in Kellen's mind everything that is not a ball must be a dog.

I hear those three words 100's of times a day. It is music to my ears!! (Although Mama would fit nicely in the mix.)

Sensitive

Tonight before bed I was reading to Kellen from the Jesus Storybook Bible. We were reading the story of Abraham taking Isaac to the mountain top to sacrifice him to the Lord. Here is what it said:

"Everything was ready. Abraham took the knife. Tears were filling up his eyes. Pain was filling up his heart. His hand was shaking. He lifted the knife high into the air-- 'STOP!' God said. 'Don't hurt the boy. I want him to live and not die. I know now that you love me because you would have given me your only son.'"

It continues. However, we didn't get that far. I was reading with expression, as if I were God telling Abraham to stop. As soon as I said STOP in a louder voice, Kellen burst into tears because he thought he had done something wrong. The poor kid is so sensitive to correction. It makes me laugh! Maybe we will finish the story of Abraham and Isaac tomorrow. Tonight we put the book away and simply rocked and cuddled.

New Beginnings

Most of you know that Tandon has been searching for a better job since we moved here last summer. The failing economy becomes very evident when you are on the job hunt. We began broadening our search to all the mid west states thinking maybe we were supposed to move somewhere else. I have been so proud of Tandon's diligence the last couple of months. Even when it felt like he had searched and researched, sent out resumes and called every company he might qualify for, he continued to search and pray to no avail. A few jobs came up that we knew were not for us, so we turned them down and continued to search.

God is faithful!! Tandon accepted a position with Lumber Liquidators on Wednesday. He is going to manage the new store they are opening in NWA. It was amazing to see how God worked out all the little details. I never want to forget the amazing way that God has taken care of us, both in opening this door and in sustaining us in unusual ways over the past few months. Tandon and I hope that this new season of life will allow us to give generously as others have given to us.

Luke 12:24 "Consider the raven, for they neither sow nor reap; they have no storeroom nor barn, and yet God feeds them; how much more valuable you are than the birds!"

On a lighter note, that is a picture of the tree in our backyard. Isn't it beautiful? I love that Arkansas has 4 distinct seasons!

Hungry

I should have never taught this boy to sign "hungry". :) Now every time I even look at the kitchen he tells me he is hungry. I guess I need to start stocking my pantry now for his teen years!

Summer

Kellen and I went to the park today with some friends. While I was getting him dressed for the 78 degree weather (beautiful!!), I noticed that he didn't have very many summer clothes in his size. I made a mental note to schedule a trip to the consignment store later this week. However, God anticipated our need! The girl I was meeting at the park showed up with a bag of summer clothes that her son didn't need any more. Isn't God good?!

Change

This is Kellen approximately one year ago on his first walk in the jogging stroller with Kooper. (Oh how I miss Kooper!!)

Here he is last week ready for a walk around the block.

A lot can happen in a year!!

First Haircut

Kellen got his first haircut on Friday by our friend and hair dresser, Jolana. Kellen was a little unsure of what the think at first, but he quickly cheered up when Jolana gave him combs to hold. In case you were wondering, I did not cry. :) However, it was sad to see my baby transform more into a toddler.
