Sensitive

Tonight before bed I was reading to Kellen from the Jesus Storybook Bible. We were reading the story of Abraham taking Isaac to the mountain top to sacrifice him to the Lord. Here is what it said:

"Everything was ready. Abraham took the knife. Tears were filling up his eyes. Pain was filling up his heart. His hand was shaking. He lifted the knife high into the air-- 'STOP!' God said. 'Don't hurt the boy. I want him to live and not die. I know now that you love me because you would have given me your only son.'"

It continues. However, we didn't get that far. I was reading with expression, as if I were God telling Abraham to stop. As soon as I said STOP in a louder voice, Kellen burst into tears because he thought he had done something wrong. The poor kid is so sensitive to correction. It makes me laugh! Maybe we will finish the story of Abraham and Isaac tomorrow. Tonight we put the book away and simply rocked and cuddled.
