My baby finally called me by name!! And I missed it!
Kellen's vocabulary has been exploding in the last few weeks, totaling more than 25 words. However, whenever anyone would ask him to say Mama, he would smile his silly smile and purse his lips together as if to say "haha, I'm not going to say that one". He has used the "m" sound in babble for quite sometime now, so it was obvious that he knew how to say mama. He just appeared to be withholding it to be a stinker.
It became a game with our friends whenever they were around.
Friend: Kellen, say ball
Kellen: Baa
F: Kellen, say dada
K: dada
F: Kellen, say dog
K: dog
F: Kellen, say mama
K: pursed lips and goofy grin
When I went to retrieve Kellen from the nursery at church on Sunday there were 5 babies crying uncontrollably. I handed Kellen to my mom (who was visiting this weekend--pictures below) and I stayed in the nursery to help calm babies before their parents showed up. Kellen and his grandma were playing around in the hall when Kellen hit his head on the corner of Grandma's glasses. He cried and then hollered "Mama." People walking by stopped to confirm that he had really just said Mama. It was a monumental moment and I missed it.
He has since said it a few more times in my presence. It has to be the sweetest thing I have ever heard. Well worth the wait!!

Here are a few pictures of Kellen with his grandparents. We always have so much fun when they visit. Wish we lived closer!

I feel very special that I was there for the first "mama"! It really is the sweetest sound to hear from your kiddo.
Looks like you had fun with your parents. It is always nice to finally hear your name. Although, I am at the point that sometimes I wish they would forget my name.
