We are proud to announce the birth of Allie Grace!
She was born January 21--weighing in at 6 pounds 12 ounces and 19.5 inches long.
Here are the details of her birth--so that I can remember in years to come.
6 pm--I started contracting shortly after dinner time on Monday, January 20.
10 pm--Headed to the hospital
10:20 pm--Dilated to 6 cm.
10:30 pm--Officially checked in at the hospital.
Walked one loop around the halls and returned to our room to request an epidural.
12:15 am--Dilated to 9 cm and got an epidural.
1:40 am--Doctor broke my water and discovered meconium.
2 am--Got additional drugs in the epidural because it was only working on one side.
2:05 am--Began pushing.
2:20 am--Allie Grace was born!!
2:50 am--NICU nurses finished checking Allie to make sure her lungs were okay from the meconium and I finally got to hold my sweet girl.
By mid morning Allie Grace was sent to the NICU because she was unable to hold her blood sugars to normal levels. Her stay in the NICU was mostly precautionary to insure that her blood sugar issues were not related to the meconium or strep-B infection. By God's grace, nothing serious was wrong with her. She just needed a little extra assistance adjusting to the world of the breathing.
Sweet girl got to come home just 48 hours after being admitted to the NICU.
Before Allie was born Kellen was adamant that he did NOT like babies and would not hold her. Since we brought her home he cannot keep his hands off her and asks to hold her often.
And of course her sister adores her too!!
Welcome Home Allie Grace!! We love you!
