Change!

Lots of change around here lately!
Changed the dog's name.
Calvin was too similar to Kellen and life got rather confusing.

So we renamed him Bullet

-----

Kellen got bunk beds.

Anna will soon get K's old bed.

I'll post pictures when we make that transition.

Kellen is not a climber, to say the least.

And is kind of afraid of heights.

So, I have wondered what he would do with bunk beds.

Once he successfully climbed up and down the back

and once we put both top rails on he has loved his new bed!

Slept all night last night ON TOP.

That's a big deal for our little guy!

-----
Kellen also got a new hair cut.
Here's the BEFORE.
As promised with the last hair cut, Tandon did not take time to cut it longer on top.

He simply buzzed it all off.

We've never done that before.
Here's the AFTER.

I may or may not have shed a few tears after the hair cut. ;)

I'm not a big fan of change, so I'm hopeful that this week is normal and boring.

Meet Calvin!

I've been scouring the Nebraska Humane Society web site for months now searching for just the right dog. I would flag one weekly to show Tandon--he always shot me down. :)  However, when this little guy popped up last weekend we loaded into the car to go check him out.  On the way there, I got kinda worried.  I told Tandon, "You are supposed to be the strong one. I'm not sure I 'really' want a dog.  I just knew I could get excited about them and depend on you to be the rational one." I guess I learned my lesson. Haha!
Some general info: We were told that Calvin is a Parson Russell Terrier around 5-6 months old.  He weighs about 7 pounds and is cute as can be.  The vet thinks he will grow to be around 10-15 pounds.

I should have blogged about Calvin on Saturday evening when we were still in the honeymoon phase. Sigh!
He has been an absolute angel . . . at home.  He is super cuddly, crate trained, house trained, and has a mutual agreement with the kids to ignore each other--which is perfect for our kids. :o) I went to bed on Saturday night singing the praises of his previous owners (who had him for about a month and found out they were allergic) and promising myself in the future to only get dogs that someone else had trained.
The trouble started on day two when Calvin met some neighbors.  He would NOT stop barking! And even attempted to nip at one neighbor's hand.  NOT OKAY! Then on Monday the kids and I took him to the vet.  By the time we got home my blood pressure was out the wazoo!!  Calvin barked the WHOLE time we were there.  I felt like the mother at walmart who's kid is throwing a fit and everyone's wondering why she doesn't do something about it.  I kept apologizing to the other people in the waiting room.  (Luckily my children were well behaved, so I left with at least a little dignity.  Haha!) When we finally saw the vet, my angel-of-a-dog (who was still barking, by the way) attacked the vet's hand--not just nipped this time, but attacked. Oh my--I was appalled!
Having since researched Parson Russell Terriers a little more, I have learned that they are very protective of their family.  Luckily for Calvin, Tandon and I are 100% sure that he would never bite our kids or he would already be out.   However, we have a lot of work to do to socialize the little guy because we can't have him biting other people.

After my little rant, I guess I should end on a positive note.  Calvin really is a cuddly sweet heart and a people pleaser. . .  at home.

Our Little Artist

Check out Kellen's coloring skills.
I can brag because he certainly did not inherit his art ability from his mother. :)

Look what he drew yesterday.

I eventually gave up on getting a normal looking face out of the kid.

Just focus on the pig. :)
Looking forward to seeing his talents develop over the next few years.

First Fish

Kellen's prayers were answered this morning when he woke up to no rain. He and T headed out to go fishing.
He caught his first fish!
He wanted to call all his "grandmas and grandpas and cousins and uncles and aunts" to tell them about his fish!

PJs

Mema made these PJs for me when I was a girl and they finally fit Anna. Isn't she cute?! The elastic in the shorts is shot. :( Any volunteers to fix them?
Kellen stopped wearing feety pajamas years ago because they are not the most practical item of clothing. Last week he got a pair in a box of hand-me-down clothes. He was thrilled! After he put them on he said, "I will not take them off tomorrow until after Daddy gets home from work. Then I'll be all ready for bed. They are so comfy!" Something's not quite right about a 4 year old--who's the size of a large 5 year old--in feety pajamas. :)

Easter Saturday

Our new tradition for Easter Saturday is to 'hunt' for lunch--thanks to Pinterest for the idea.
How fun is that?!
That evening we dyed eggs.
Our artist
Very intentional about his eggs.
Annie spend most of the time playing with the stickers from the egg dying kit.
But only after I made a PINK egg for her.

Smoothies

I've been on a smoothie kick for a few weeks. Yum!
My kids refuse to drink them.
I can't figure out why.
Any ideas? ;)
Actually, Kellen is finally admitting that he likes them.
Now if I could just get Anna on board.
