Chickenpox vs Allergies

Wednesday morning Kellen woke up with this horrible rash all over his body--even the palms of his hands and the bottoms of his feet. My medical expertise diagnosed him with an allergic reaction to the antibiotics he has been on for Strep Throat. The doctor at the walk in clinic disagreed and thinks it might be chickenpox caught from the vaccine Kellen got last week. On a side note, we waited two extra years before giving him the vaccine because I didn't feel comfortable with it. Figures this would happen. ;)

We are supposed to follow up with our pediatrician on Friday to see what he thinks. I am still convinced that this is a reaction to the antibiotics because of the way the rash looks and the swelling in his face, although Kellen spiked a 102.7 temperature last night. You don't run a fever with allergies, right?

It's always an adventure at our house! We had a house showing while I was at the doctor with the kids. When we got home the garage door was locked and I couldn't get in the house because my house key is in the lock box for the Realtors. Who locks their garage door anyway?!? Tandon was able to meet us and give me his key so it wasn't that big of a deal, but combined with the rest of the day's events I was rather annoyed.

Looking forward to what exciting adventures today will bring!!

Feel free to give your vote on Kellen's rash. I'll update again tomorrow after we get a second opinion.

13 Months

Anna Elizabeth . . .

-can pull up to a standing position on furniture.
-is completely weaned and despite much worry on my part she didn't seem to notice when I dropped the last feeding.
-entertains herself very well.
-LOVES her brother and wants to be involved in everything he is doing.
-waves, claps, gives high five, plays peek-a-boo and pat-a-cake, holds toy phone to her ear, and pretends to stir and eat with toy spoon and cup.
-is fairly content most of the time unless teething or hungry.
-has 4 teeth and at least one on the way.
-enjoys the outdoors but refuses to sit or crawl on the grass.
-can sign eat, more, finished, and maybe milk--that ones up for debate whether she is really signing it or not.
-still sucks the first three fingers on her right hand but will remove them while awake when prompted. (Yes, mom, we're working on that!)
-will refuse to eat if she thinks the rest of the family is eating something better than what she has on her tray.
-has absolutely stolen her daddy's heart!

Stats

Gentle Giant
(March 20th)
Height: 40.5 inches--95th percentile
Weight: 40 lbs 5 oz--95th percentile

The doctor said wherever children fall on the growth curve by this age is typically where they stay for the duration of their growth. Based on that she followed the 95th percentile all the way up to adolescence and said that she would predict Kellen to be 6ft 3in as an adult. Nice! Better start saving now for our grocery bill over the next 15 years. ;)

Average Annie
(February 25th)
Height: 29 inches--50th percentile
Weight: 20 lbs 12 oz--50th percentile

(Sorry for the sideways picture. . .I couldn't figure out how to turn it.)

Spring Has Sprung

Spring brought a new mode of transportation for both kids--Anna is facing forward and Kellen uses the "real" seat belt. So big!

Kellen got his first pair of flip flops. He's still kind of wobbly but he loves them!

Anna is crawling everywhere, which is new to me. Her brother stayed within sight of me and had an overall understanding of what was his to touch. She, on the other hand, is into everything, spreading my cook books all over the kitchen floor, pulling all of Kellen's toys out, dumping the piano music out, and finding treasures in my purse. We have to keep an eye on the little stinker. :)

The kids and I have been spending as much time outside as the weather will allow because it means less messes to clean should there be a house showing.

Speaking of, we have shown the house 15 times since January 1st. All I have to say about that is STRESSFUL!! There has been no pressure from the soon-to-be new employer to move before the house sells, but Tandon and I are both still edgy and anxious to sell the house and move on. With this much traffic it is bound to happen soon!

Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness! Morning by morning new mercies I see; all I have needed Thy hand hath provided. Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
