We signed a contract on our house in Arkansas and are scheduled to close June 29th. Hooray!
As soon as we signed the contract we made plans for a trip to Omaha to find housing. Totally planned on renting, but as things progressed it became evident that the best option was to buy again.
We signed a contract on a house in Omaha last weekend and have been frantically packing and taking care of all the paperwork that goes along with buying/selling houses.
Our trip to Omaha was a whirlwind, to say the least! Living out of a hotel and restaurants with two little ones for 4 nights was interesting. The kids did great despite very little sleep and being drug all over town looking at houses.
Poor Kellen is so confused, he kept asking, "Is this house in Omaha, Nebraska?" A few times he looked out the window and exclaimed, "Oh look, there's Colorado!" (Where my parents live.) Location is such an abstract concept that he never quite figured out that we were in Omaha the whole weekend and every house we looked at was in Omaha. He also kept asking questions about what the people who live in the house we bought are going to do when we get there. He must think we are all going to live together. :) I'm discovering that explaining life changes to a three-year-old is not easy.
Here's a picture of our new home. Our house in Omaha is substantially smaller than the one in Arkansas because of higher tax rates. Tandon and I have both gone through a mourning period over this, but I keep reminding myself it is only a house. Having Tandon home for dinner most evenings and going to church as a family on a regular basis is worth getting rid of a few things and living closer to one another for a season.

The house looks great! I know it's a relief to get going on this move. So glad everything has finally worked out. I know it's been a busy few months for you all.

Very cute house! Do you have a basement? B/c after the storms here in May, I'd give up a couple hundred square feet for safety! :) I will have to listen to that song- I'm not a huge country music fan, but I kind of got all choked up when I read those lyrics! Guess I could just relate. haha...
